BlogMedia has announced their new network & its Erati Media division:
We’re excited to announce the launch of its new network of weblogs. The BlogMedia & Erati Media network initially consists of twenty sites across a wide range of themes, including management, technology, celebrities, comedy, sports, and many others. Each ‘blog’ focuses on specific subject areas and is written by experts in their respective fields.
“We launched the BlogMedia & Erati Media blog network because we wanted to connect our experts and those interested in a topic to interact in a way that allowed their passion and energy to flourish, “ said Matt Craven, Vice President of Online Services for BlogMedia, Inc. “We’re looking forward to being a part of a conversation between our experts and their readers.”The BlogMedia network consists of two distinct segments. BlogMedia focuses on topics ranging from celebrity gossip, to television shows , to discussions about the current state of sports, and a look at the blogosphere through the eyes of Blogger Idol.
The Erati Media division, is home to some of the most talented writers in online media. “Erati Media is a community of creators,” said David Krug, Community Director for Erati Media, “it’s a unique forum for talented, often overlooked, writers to leave a mark on mainstream media.” Sites such as biz.erati share information about personal leadership and small business management, while blog.erati discusses the world of blogging and provides reviews of other blog sites.BlogMedia prefers to publish in a blog format because it provides continuously updated content as well the ability to facilitate interaction between the writers and the readers. Blogging is unique in so far as it bridges the gap between the writer and the reader. Providing the reader with a portal of consistent content has become increasingly important.
“We are not about to create another blog network for the sake of creating a blog network,” states Krug, “this is about fostering the talent behind quality content, and providing opportunities for success.”
“We believe that by giving talented individuals a unified forum for expressing themselves, we can fully harness the unbridled potential of this new media, ” states Craven. “In doing so, we feel that we can raise the quality standard for content while ushering in a new age of information exchange. As we grow, we will champion the highest quality content and combine it with our passion for connecting with our audience, and this will help us to lead the way into this new informational frontier.”

According to Blogebrity, who scooped us on this one, Gawker Media’s former site Oddjack – announced as being closed, is still live and being updated by an unknown party:
Rather than shutter the site, Gawker Media sold it in December for an undisclosed sum to a company who has since taken the domain under private registration (meaning we can’t figure out much from the WHOIS). All we can tell (from a reverse WHOIS lookup) is that it’s currently sitting on a server with such notable web destinations as www.2006-superbowl-betting.com and horseracingarizona.com. Adding to the ambiguity, there are no credits on the site as of Jan. 1, 2006–so we’re not totally sure who’s driving this ship. But somebody is updating the site 3-5 times a day, with some impressively accurate football picks and moderately amusing Las Vegas posts.

BlogMedia.biz, the folks behind the Blog Network Watch, are apparently behind this stealthy pre-alpha blog. Details are intentionally sketchy, but the ones that we know are interesting–this is where at least a couple of the Fine Fools defectors will be landing, including the one that used to write for us. As for when/where–we have no clue, and quite frankly are suffering from too much BNOS (Blog Network Overload Syndrome) to research any further.

Syntagma Media has some new blogs launching:
Back into action with a swing. Two new Syntagma Media blogs go live this week:
1. Vista Office will look at the two major product releases from Microsoft this year ~ Windows Vista and Office “12″. Live tomorrow.
2. Digital Camera Latest. Yes, SynMed has a gadget blog. Not just to complete the portfolio though. Your correspondent is a long-standing photographer who spent much of his youth toiling over fixerlated paper in the darkroom. He’s delighted with the pixelated world of digital photography and can’t wait for his new Canon EOS 350D (that most-wanted item of kit) to arrive shortly. Up before the weekend.

BlogMedia, Inc. announces that two former Fine Fools sites have joined their network:
We’re pleased to announce that two former Fine Fools blogs have joined BlogMedia, Inc.
Jack of All Blogs, the home of the ever challenging Cowboy joins our BlogMedia Network group. You’ll see him continue his snarkiness as before at JOAB.
Successful Blog, the home of popular business & management writer Miz Liz joins our Erati division. Successful Blog is a highly popular blog on business, management, and leadership issues.
And we note that Jack of all Blogs is back in all of his snarky style:
Liar. Liar. The Cowboy is a liar. He can’t be stopped. I have tried to tie him into a closet. I have tried selling his soul on ebay, I tried giving him to Gawker. To no avail. The cowboy rides again. And for what cause? For what. To stand around helplessly and mock other bloggers, blog networks, and even himself.
At the CES Show Google Announces Cowboy 2.0, a meaner tougher Cowboy made from pure evil. It looks like the old cowboy, smells like the old cowboy, but spits farther.

b5media has launched a Video Games Channel and two new blogs:
We’ve been working hard for the last month on putting together our new Video Games Channel, with Ingrid Diaz. Ingrid is fairly well known in b5 for working on Play Girlz, Kapped and for helping us out with designs and so forth. We’re quite proud to see her taking the mantle of Channel Editor for the Video Games Channel.
The new blogs include Sims Gamer and FPS Rantings:
Sims Gamer: Written by Leora Zellman from our Desperate Housewives blog, Sims Gamer focuses on, what else, The Sims! The blog is part news on The Sims (one of the most popular games ever), tips on playing, upcoming developments and is even a little bit of a journal, as it chronicles the adventures of “Leora Sim”.
FPS Rantings: Written by brand new b5′er (though long time Play Girlz reader) Matt Scott, FPS Rantings is a video game blog all about “First Person Shooters” (Halo, Doom 3, Half Life 2, etc). This is a great little blog for anyone who loves (or hates) FPS’s. Matt is quite vocal about why games are good (half life) and why they suck (Battlefield 2). It’s a great little read from someone who isn’t afraid to share his opinion – whether you want him to or not 😉
