Paul Short, the founder of the former BlogLogic blog network, has launched Meatball Marketing:

Last year (2004) I vowed I would get out of the internet marketing game for good. I complained about all the spam, the ripoffs, the newbies getting sucked in by the bigger fish… I wanted no part of it.

But maybe I wasn’t really using my brain. So I’ve decided to devote 2006 to using that brain to help others use theirs. If it’s a success, that will be good. If not, at least I’ll have given it my best shot.

9rules announced several new members this week.

First up, Encytemedia:

I’ve always been heavily involved in graphic design, after creating Purephotoshop.com I wanted to do more with development and Open Source. I started EncyteMedia briefly before I quit my day job and started working from the bedroom of my one bedroom apartment. It’s the place that keeps me connected with the rest of the developer world, and along the way I share my experience with Ruby on Rails, Javascript, Web Design and living life as a Freelancer.

Then, it’s graphicPUSH:

graphicPUSH is a site for web and print designers, with a focus on freelancing and inhouse talent. Articles cover everything from practical business advice to contemporary web development, from life as a freelancer to the Opera browser. graphicPUSH also offers several sets of completely free icons for blogs, CMS applications and RSS/XML links.

Third up is The Past Tense:

The Past Tense is a blog on history, trying to make you remember all the stuff you learned at school. History is more than dates, names and abstract movements; it is not as dull and dusty as most people remember it. The Past Tense is my attempt at broadening the audience for history and make more people realize where we’ve been. My aim is not to develop new theories-rather I try to tell stories that make ordinary people think “hey, I never knew that!” Rather than infinite wisdom or professional research experience, The Past Tense is driven solely by an amateur’s enthusiasm.

Then it’s DC blog Mudsugar:

Back in the early 80’s, the explosion of punk music and culture put Washington, DC on the map for something other than politics. So what ever happened to that great DC music scene that birthed great bands such as Minor Threat, Bad Brains, and Fugazi? Well, it’s actually alive and well, it’s just hidden under a veil of politics and corporations. Our Nation’s Capital was built upon the swamps and mud of this region and has now become a concrete empire. A group of us frustrated bloggers decided that now is the time for a new beginning, and in order to see the great arts and culture of DC you have to look through the politics, the corporations, and through the concrete… and this is where you will find Mudsugar, the underground music and arts source for Washington, DC.

Design blog Newsdesigner:

NewsDesigner.com is, simply put, a site about news and trends in newspaper design and visual journalism. But I also like to think it’s about how readers interact with newspapers and how newspapers can better communicate and serve readers. And I try to do that without sounding nearly as self-important as that last sentence.

netzkobol.de is the last addition:

The netzkobol.de blog is about all kinds of Viral- and Digital Marketing and sometimes other cool stuff found in the net.
