Nick Douglas headed for Gawker Media

According to a couple blogs tonight, Nick Douglas, of Blogebrity fame, is headed to work for Gawker Media, writing a Silicon Valley Tech Blog.

First on the block tonight is this from Jack of All Blogs:

Nick Denton and Nick Douglas have officially (unofficially) crawled into the sack together and will be launching a blog covering the Silicon Valley Tech scene According to a reputable website Nick Douglas, of Blogebrity will be relocating from Pennsylvania to California early next year leaving Blogebrity in a much better place. According to sources within Gawker the average Gawkerite is making around 3000 dollars a month, but what makes this special is that there must be enough in it for Douglas to move to California and make a living at it.

Blog Herald thinks this smells fishy:

A Blog Soup, who broke the initial story, writes:

I have heard now from a few very reliable people that Gawker Media,
that powerhouse of blogging created by Nick Denton, is getting
ready to launch a new site. It will, apparently, be a gossip/news blog
focusing on the Silicon Valley tech scene.

I like Blogebrity and Gawker.. this could be an interesting mix.. and I’m not aware of anyone covering that area quite as snarkily as I think this could be done.. will be an interesting one to watch.

Performancing Launches Firefox Extension

Many places are reporting on the launch of Performancing’s blogging extension for Firefox. Steve Rubel at Micropersuasion has this:

Performancing today launched a handy little Firefox extension that’s simply awesome. From any page in your browser, just right click and special blog publishing frame opens. Fill it out, add your categories and post. It’s like a mini version of ecto, but it’s missing some key features like pinging different engines and Technorati tags. Still, what a great extension. With each passing day I am finding that Firefox, with all its extensions, plus some key Web apps are a platform that meets most of my needs.

We’ve installed it and will be testing out. It’s hard to beat ecto though…

Duncan Riley goes full-time

Duncan Riley of b5media announced today that he’s been “restructured” and is now pro-blogging full-time:

Oh My God! I’m a Problogger. That’s the realisation I made this morning when I woke up after having received notice yesterday afternoon that I have been “restructured” out of my full time job in the non-blogging world. Merry Christmas one may well say, but as they say you never let the bastards (or in this case, the bastard) get you down. I can remember too well b5media’s Jeremy Wright being in a similar situation at the beginning of the year, and how he used that opportunity to earn a living for himself (and yes, I’ve discussed this with him briefly). It’s a fine example that I intend on following, and join the other 3 b5media directors who don’t work full time jobs. Sure, I might need to pick up some Part Time work in the non-blogging world in the new year to cover things for a while, but its blogging and more blogging for me from now on.

Looks like Duncan is writing about Britney Spears now too…
